The Gairdner New Zealand Connection blog is a transcription of correspondence exchanged between Mona Macquoron Kent of Auckland, New Zealand and Charlie Tennant of Blairgowrie, Scotland from 1975 to 1987.

Mona and Charlie were third cousins, descendants of the Gairdners of Ayrshire, a family with roots going back to 17th century Scotland.

At this stage, there are 35 letters in the collection.  The correspondence, it runs to close to 100 pages, has been assembled chronologically and can be read by going to “The Letters” on the menu bar.

The materials on the website, with relevant footnotes, are transcriptions of the originals.   Comments on the style and substance of the writings are welcomed.

Hi my name is Elizabeth Lancaster(LaVie) I am the grandaughter of Elizabeth Jessie Lavie (Gairdner) and George Sissmore Lavie who are mentioned in the letters above. I have many old photographs of my grandparents who I never meet. They both died before I was born. I would be interested in hearing form any Gairdner descendants living in NZ and Scotland. Regards Elizabeth.
